Here are a few fun facts about Nemiah’s (Xeni) landscape, which is in the heart of the Chilcotin Region of BC:
Nemiah is one of the most pristine, and untouched ecosystems left in North America.
Xeni Gwet’in have declared much of their territory a protected area, designating it the Aboriginal Wilderness Preserve (1989)
#XeniWildBC is home to the ?Elegesi Qayus Wild Horse Preserve (2002), where wild Gayuse horses are descendants of Spanish horses .
Nemiah is a four season environment at an elevation of 1,316 metres (4,318 feet).
The wild Gayuse horses that roam Xeni’s Wilderness are descendants of Spanish horses.
Chilko River and Chilko Lake support significant populations of sockeye, chinook, bull trout, rainbow trout, and steelhead
The Mystical Chilcotin Landscape
