During your stay with us, we invite you to discover the traditional cuisine of the Xeni Gwet’in. The casual ambiance of our dining room, the attentive service of our team, and our quest to deliver exciting seasonal, flavoursome, and regional fare are the elements that promise to make your culinary explorations memorable ones. 

The Xeni Gwet’in have farmed the land and hunted the wilderness since time immemorial. Locally sourced elk and fish, and fresh vegetables and herbs from nearby farms are the inspiration of true Xeni cuisine at Nemiah Lodge. A variety of ancient cooking techniques are featured.  Get ready to sample some delights that are prepared by ‘earth or pit cooking’, or the natural ‘into-the-fire’ traditional method of roasting potatoes.    

 
 

Smoking or curing the locally caught salmon and other lake fish were traditional ways of preserving foods while ensuring winter abundance for the community. It’s a tradition that lives on today. 

Our Chef at Nemiah Valley Lodge has mindfully crafted the menu to ensure guests discover, enjoy and value the authentic cuisine of the Xeni Gwet’in.
